We are rapidly approaching that time of year! Before we know it open enrollment for Medicare Part D Plans will be upon us. I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Donna Shaw and I am the Account Manager Billing Specialist for Guardian Pharmacy of Maine. I have been with the pharmacy for over 20 years with almost 14 of those years working directly in the billing field. One function of my position is to be available to help residents or loved ones review the current enrolled Part D Plan and evaluate which plan best fits their medication needs. I also provide guidance with navigating the process of enrolling in a Part D Plan for the first time.
Selecting a Part D Plan can be a confusing, daunting task and Guardian Pharmacy is here to help. The open enrollment period for 2021 is October 15 through December 7, 2020. Plans will go into effect on January 1, 2021.
Guardian Pharmacy is contracted with most, if not all, available Part D Plans for the area covering the communities we service. In most cases we should also be listed as an in-network pharmacy. Since many insurance companies classify Guardian Pharmacy differently from a retail pharmacy, we do not always appear as an option to select, or we may be listed as out-of-network.
If you encounter this while searching, you can contact the plan you are interested in and have them check their specialty or long-term care pharmacy listing. They should be able to locate Guardian Pharmacy and provide you with more information.
