Last month Waltz Pharmacy staff members Michael Nussbaum, director of finance, with his family and Michael Cushing, pharmacist, participated in the annual Dempsey Challenge, a fundraiser for The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer, Hope and Healing in Lewiston, Maine. Participants over the age of 18 are encouraged to raise $150 for the event, which consists of five different cycling and walk/run distances. The proceeds help to defray the costs of treatment for those who need assistance from The Dempsey Center, an organization providing free support and education to those impacted by cancer.
Together the Nussbaum family raised over $2,200 by using creative tactics to secure donations. They gave $5 raffle tickets to donors, offering their services for painting, cleaning, or raking the yard.
