Cathy Yurek, R.Ph., Clinical Staff & Consultant Pharmacist, and Courtney Oland, R.Ph., Director of Pharmacy Operations at Waltz Long Term Care Pharmacy, recently completed a nationally recognized IV certification program in Grand Prairie, Texas. The course, offered by RxProstaff, Inc. and based on USP 797, concentrates on policies and procedures that reduce infections transmitted to patients through pharmaceutical products.
Formalized IV Training is quickly becoming a legal requirement for all pharmacists and pharmacy technicians involved with sterile compounding in hospitals, infusion suites, long term care facilities and compounding pharmacies that offer sterile compounding in their product line. This is a national standard applicable to all pharmacies across the USA. Cathy and Courtney join Amy Enos, Pharm.D., Krista Fallis, Pharm.D., Dan Cloutier, R.Ph., Denise Goupil, R.Ph., and Brianna O’Brien, Pharm.D., as two of the seven nationally certified pharmacists at Waltz Long Term Care.
